Lightning

We stretch out our arms and fly.
Across the vastness of vacant hearts
We shoot across the night skies,
And strike each other as we find center.

Flying through the empty vastness
Soaring through worlds so small,
we'd forget our names as we burn them,
Unforgiving, quick as a blink, we burn them.

Striking each other with a static moving charge
Quivering ever so slightly at what we do.
We do it anyway, again and again.
We are lightning.  Reaching across the sky.

And we disappear
as soon as we touch.
